13. GET ENOUGH SLEEP
Sleep is fantastic for your overall health, including your skin. Studies have found that sleep deprivation can negatively affect skin appearance. Shoot for 7-8 hours per night to avoid the dark circles!
14. HYDRATE
Drinking enough water has loads of health benefits, and is also great for your skin. Start off your morning with a tall glass to get you started each day.
15. EAT HEALTHY
Eating too much sugar, processed foods, and fried foods can harm your skin. Cleaning up your eating habits can help with acne and anti-aging, and can even help prevent cancer.
16. DON'T SMOKE
If you’re a smoker, you can drastically improve your appearance by quitting smoking. When you quit smoking, your blood flow improves and your skin receives more nutrients and oxygen. New Year’s resolution anyone?
17. IMPROVE YOUR AIR QUALITY
Both outdoor and indoor pollutants can adversely affect your skin. Take a few minutes to change your air filters, and if you have dry skin consider getting a humidifier for your bedroom.

18. TOSS EXPIRED PRODUCTS
Personal care products like your face wash and moisturizer typically have a shelf life of two years unopened, and one year after it's been opened. So that bottle your mom gave you for Christmas five years ago has definitely expired. It's okay to let it go (even if it was really expensive), because it's likely to cause more harm than help at this point.
19. CLEAN THINGS THAT TOUCH YOUR FACE (ie: YOUR PHONE AND PILLOW)
We've probably all guilty of scrolling for hours on our phone and then touching our faces. Make sure to wipe off your phone screen and tech accessories regularly to prevent dirt and bacteria buildup.
Bacteria, oil, dirt, and sweat all build up on your pillowcase. This can cause allergies, acne, and other skin and hair damage. Aim to wash your pillowcases in hot water at least once a week!
20. STOP PICKING YOUR FACE
We know, we know - it can feel almost impossible to not pick at a pimple or an ingrown hair. But doing so can cause your breakouts to get even worse, and can also lead to long-term hyperpigmentation and scarring if it gets infected with bacteria. When you do get that pesky breakout, opt for a micro-needle pimple patch to reduce the pimple from within and it'll prevent you from infecting it.
21. DON'T OVERWASH YOUR HAIR
Shampooing daily can strip essential moisture leaving your hair and scalp dry, damaged, itchy, and flakey.
